UMS SKELDAR to use Paris International Airshow 2017 as launchpad for unmanned helicopter announcement
Skeldar v-200’s capabilities across intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (isr) and search and rescue (sar) applications to be showcased through major contract announcements at le bourget
MS SKELDAR, the innovative unmanned technology solutions business formed through a joint venture between UMS AERO Group and Saab will be making major contract announcements for its SKELDAR V-200 VTOL (vertical take-off and landing), the only heavy fuel UAS (unmanned aerial system) on the market, at the upcoming 52nd Paris International Airshow (19-25 June 2017).
With a track record including anti-piracy operations with the Spanish Navy in the Indian Ocean, sales to the Indonesian military, trials with naval forces worldwide and a strategic relationship with partner 3FAS in India, the company has become a global force in UAV innovation.
David Willems, Head of Business Development, UMS SKELDAR explains: “Our mission is to create the most compelling VTOL solution across military and civilian markets. The focus on maritime applications with our unique heavy fuel ability means that we are in an ideal position to serve the markets where we know we can immediately provide solutions.”
The NATO compliant SKELDAR V-200, powered by Saab technology, with its ability to run on heavy fuel has carved a role as the ideal platform for maritime and naval operations as well as military and civilian activities. UMS SKELDAR, says Willems, isb “focused on becoming the VTOL platform of choice for navies worldwide.”
The strategic focus on deployment in chosen markets will enable the company to ramp up production from its facilities in Switzerland and Sweden.
Flexible and highly versatile, the SKELDAR V-200 is the leading RPAS multi-payload and high-endurance platform within the mid-range UAV market, incorporating Saab’s experience of 80 years in the aviation industry. The platform is multi-role and capable of performing reconnaissance, identification, target acquisition and electronic warfare. Additionally, the system is deployable with a number of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) high resolution EO/IR, SAR and EW sensors, in addition to a range of training packages. It is expected that major announcements on payload integration will also be made at Paris.
With 2,300 international exhibitors, 150,000 trade visitors, 30 national pavilions and almost 300 official delegations, the Paris Air Show is still the biggest show of its kind.
